The Excelsior Motor Co.
I'm really into bikes. I love bikes like anything. I wanted GODSPEED. And I'm sure every bike enthusiast is somewhere connected to the bikes by their HEART.
There are various super fast bikes available in the market these days. But I really want you to have a look over this one bike which changed the industry upside down.
Today I'm writing about a British manufacturer Excelsior Motor Company, based in Coventry, Warwickshire (England). It started its production for sale in 1896. And later moved to Birmingham in 1921.
As per the revolution in the Motorcycle industry, Excelsior Motor Co. gave the big hand. As officially it was the very first bike to reach 100 MPH. Excelsior then got collaborated with the Henderson Motorcycles in 1927. And left their footprints in the US market by 1928. Excelsior was in third place in the US following India and Harley Davidson. From 1910 to 1920 they produced their first 1000 CC 61 Cubic" bike Model BigX, with V-2 engine, Belt Driven and 2 speed and 3-speed gearbox, which was available in two colors Dark Blue and Gold. Excelsior also produced few bikes with a 1210 CC 74 Cubic" engine.
The BigX was in production till 1924 and later replace by Super X in 1925. It was a good competitor to Indian Scout. The Super X was available with a 737 CC 45 Cubic" engine.
Later in 1929 due to the Great Depression in the stock market, the company had to stop its production. And this beauty was finally shut down for manufacturing in 1931.
I hope this information was helpful and also share your thoughts about the same. Stay tuned for more.
